WEC Week IX
Week 9 showcased the team’s continued growth, with consistent performances in the ring and riders building on their momentum across all divisions. It’s hard to believe that we’re halfway through our time here in Ocala
Neeve Canniffe had a successful week in the jumper ring with Candito, earning a 6th place finish in the $500 .80m Jr/Am Classic and 4th place in the .90m Novice Junior Jumpers. The pair continues to build confidence and consistency as they move up. In the equitation ring, Neeve, riding Alexander Hamilton, earned 6th and 7th place ribbons in the 3’ Children’s Equitation. The pair also stepped into the THIS Children’s Medal 14 & Under and the USHJA Hunters, where they put down some great rounds!
Roshni Desai delivered a standout performance aboard Caracas 113, earning a 2nd place finish in the Ariat Adult Medal. The pair also stepped into the $15,000 USHJA National Derby where they put in a beautiful round, as well as the USHJA 3’ Hunter, continuing to gain valuable experience in competitive company.
Sasha Rieber and Zirocco continued to build experience in the jumper ring, earning a 4th place finish in the .80m Jr/Am Jumpers and also put down a great round in the Classic round.
Ella Petillo also had a great week in the jumper ring aboard El Niño, earning a 2nd and 7th place finish in the .70m Jr/Am Jumpers, along with a 12th place in the $500 .70m Classic.
Ally Kirk, riding Roshni Desai’s River Street, earned 7th and 8th place ribbons in the Low Adult Equitation, along with a 4th place on the flat. The pair also stepped into the $3,500 Adult 2’6 WEC Hunt & Go Derby putting down a lovely trip. River Street in currently offered for sale or lease.
Darian Petillo had a busy and competitive week across multiple horses. In the $2,500 Small Junior Hunter Classic, she earned 10th place aboard Unlimited and 11th place with Say It Right. In the Small Junior Hunters 16–17, Say It Right earned 6th and 7th over fences along with a 4th place under saddle, while Unlimited added consistent rounds with 6th and 7th over fences and a 5th place finish in the handy. Darian also stepped into the $15,000 USHJA National Derby 3’ Jr/Am aboard both Coltrane and Say It Right, putting down beautiful rounds.
Rome Rehme and Scamander enjoyed another successful week in the Pony Hunters, consistently earning top ribbons throughout the division. The pair picked up ribbons in every class, including sixth, fifth, third, and second in the under saddle, ultimately securing Reserve Champion. They also capped off the week with a strong fourth-place finish in the $1,000 Children’s Hunter Pony Classic.
The progress we’re seeing each week is a direct reflection of the team’s focus and dedication, and we’re looking forward to building on this success as the season continues.
