Venice Week II
Red Oak Farm kicked off the season at the Venice Equestrian Tour, and our team couldn’t have been more excited to experience a new venue. Escaping the snowy New Jersey winter for sunny Florida was a welcome change, and the horses and riders settled beautifully.
We were thrilled with the welcoming atmosphere and overall experience at the show. It was a fantastic way to start the circuit, and we’re looking forward to the weeks ahead.
Roshni Desai started the week off right with her boys securing the win in the Ariat Adult Medal and earning champion in the combined Adult Equitation riding Caracas 113. The pair also jumped to a fourth place finish in the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby. Roshni and Ascadam Z were second in the 1.0m Junior/Amateur jumpers and had a top finish in the 1.05m Classic.
Olivia O’Malley and Togo Rouge were picture perfect with the pair jumping clean rounds for a class win in the 0.95m Jumpers for Reserve and were third in the $1,000 0.95m Mini Prix. Ally Kirk had two class wins for the 2’6 Child/Adult Equitation Championship aboard Roshni Desai’s River Street. The pair had great success in the 2’6 Low Adult Hunters as well.
Darian Petillo and her boys had a great first week in Venice. Darian and Chronicle 4 were double clear for second last week in the $1,500 1.05m Junior/Amateur Classic, while Say it Right and Unlimited jumped to top ribbons in every class of the combined 3’3 Junior Hunters. Darian and Say it Right took second in the handy round as well.
Week II brought the debut of two new partnerships for Neeve Canniffe. Neeve and Alexander Hamilton jumped to top ribbons in the combined 12-17 Equitation throughout the week, while she and Candito jumped two clear rounds in the 0.80m. We’re excited to see what these new partnerships bring this winter!
Maris Davis hasn’t skipped a beat. After a four month hiatus from the show ring, Maris and her Brunello earned blue and two reds in the Long Stirrup earning Reserve honors. Brunello was also Champion in the USHJA 2’6, winning all four over fence classes with Kayla Wilson.
Kayla also had a great first week with Dowdstown Captain (pictured top of page) jumping beautiful rounds in the 1.20m and had their debut in the 1.25m. We’re looking forward to seeing how the pair continues to grow throughout our time in Florida. Dowdstown Captain is looking for his person and is proudly offered for lease or sale.
We’re incredibly proud of all our riders for their hard work and dedication both at home and in the show ring. We’re excited to continue building on this great start as we head into Week III in Venice. Thank you to all of our riders, families, and supporters who make these opportunities possible!
