Dear
Friends,
As many of you may know, our friend and fellow equestrian, Kerry
O’Connell, was in a terrible car accident on August 4. The
accident left her with a broken left arm, broken left hip,
fractured ribs and vertebrae. She has undergone three surgeries to
repair her injuries which have left her with pins, plates,
rods and several skin grafts. She now faces extensive rehab and
will not be able to work for many months. Even though the accident
was not Kerry’s fault, due to her particular situation and the
laws in the state of New Jersey, she has no insurance coverage.
Therefore, we have decided to host a charity event to help cover
her mounting medical expenses.
Our Red Oak Farm riders, families and friends have been extremely
philanthropic for various causes in the past, and we hope you will
find Kerry’s story and plight compelling and want to help.
Therefore, we have decided, along with our annual charity horse
show, to hold a Clinic to benefit Kerry and help her get the care
and treatment needed to make a full and speedy recovery. The cost
of this clinic will be $185 per person.
Please join us on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Red Oak Farm for
an instructional, mounted clinic with Ken Berkley. Mr.
Berkley has generously agreed to donate his time and expertise for
this very special and important cause .
Ken Berkley, along with successful hunter competitor, Scott
Stewart, own and operate River’s Edge in Flemington, NJ and
Wellington, FL. Mr. Berkley splits his time between both the
hunter and jumper rings. He was chosen to represent the USA at the
2010 Rolex FEI World Cup Finals in Geneva, Switzerland aboard the
gray Holstein, Carlos-Boy. He has been equally successful in the
hunter ring gleaning many championship titles including the
tricolor for the Grand Hunter Champion at the 2010 Devon Horse
Show aboard Premier.
This clinic will be an exceptional learning experience for riders
of all levels. It will include instruction from Mr.Berkley and a
luncheon in our viewing room. Please complete the accompanying
entry form and return it, along with payment in full, to Bethie W.
Dayton, Red Oak Farm, 557 Pleasant Plains Road, Stirling, NJ
07980. Checks may be made payable to Mari Lou Case. All proceeds
will go directly to aid Kerry in her treatment and restore her to
back to a healthy and active lifestyle in the horse-world. For
more information call Bethie on 908- 647-0971.
Let’s make this event a huge success! Thank you for your support
and anticipated participation.
Sincerely,
Bethie W. Dayton
